picturing the desert

Telephone Wires to Death Valley
Polaroid 2008

I took this photograph outside of death valley during the "Polaroid Farewell Tour" 2008. We had a pile of film and endless landscape. It was a beautiful trip, I miss the light. I want to get back to the desert and listen to the quiet. I don't know why my film acted so amazingly off during this trip. Probably because the light was so bright, and the cooler lost its cool half way through the first day. Not that I'm complaining. With all the control I muster for my image making, these were pleasant surprises and an exercise in letting go.

(looking left of the previous image. you can see a tinge of telephone wire in the upper left of the image...)

In other news, Peter sent me a pile of film that arrived yesterday so I'm looking forward to not being afraid of wasting my film for a few weeks. exciting.
